Marvel’s new superhero film, “The Eternals“, due out in November 2020, will include Phastos, a gay character played by actor Brian Tyree Henry, so look out for upcoming trailers for that.  The film is about a group of immortal aliens living on earth and the cast is headed by Angelina Jolie and Kit Harington.  Find out more at Marvel’s website.

M/M Fantasy Novels To Look Out For In 2020

Find new novels to look forward to with this list of some of the amazing m/m fantasy books due out in 2020.

Infinity Son (Infinity Cycle 1) by Adam Silvera – Due for release on 14 January 2020, this urban fantasy by a best-selling author sees two brothers getting involved with the Spell Walkers and a magical war.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune – Due out in March, this is the new urban fantasy novel by this popular author.  Linus Baker must protect the world from magical danger while Arthur Parnassus only wants to protect the children in his orphanage, bringing the two men into opposition with each other.

The Fascinators by Andrew Eliopulos – Due to be released in May in hardback, this Young Adult urban fantasy has three friends who possess magic facing first love and danger.

Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas – Due out in June, this novel has trans boy, Yadriel, summoning the wrong ghost and helping to solve the spirit’s death.

Fragile Remedy by Maria Ingrande Mora – Also due to be released in June – Genetically engineered Nate has been alone since he was young but he finally finds a home with misfit scavengers, including Reed.  What will happen when they learn the truth of who he is?

The Lost Book of the White (The Eldest Curses 2) by Cassandra Clare – Due out in September, the newest Shadowhunter novel continues the adventures of warlock Magnus Bane and his shadowhunter boyfriend, Alex.

Storm Boys (Storm Riders 1) by Davis Lavender – Devlin plays a song that summons three gods who used to be enemies.  The men must accept their need for each other to fight an ancient evil.  This is the first book in a gay harem fantasy series.

A King to be Protected (Our King, Our Master 2) by Brea Alepou – This is the second novel in a gay harem fantasy series about a magical group of people who live alongside humans.  Titus struggles to keep control of his people while relying on his keepers to help him.

Loose Ends (Badlands 4) by Morgan Brice – Psychic medium, Simon, and his detective lover, Vic, must cope with dangerous spirits and the threat of someone trying to ruin Simon.

Wren and Oak (The Rowan Harbor Cycle 9) by Sam Burns – The final book in this fantasy series has Fletcher facing the deadly Summer King.

There is an interview with “Star Wars” actor Oscar Isaac here about a possible romantic relationship between his character, Poe, and  Finn and said there would be plenty of scenes between the men in the upcoming film.

The US Supreme Court is currently deciding whether to change laws to prevent discrimination against LGBTQ people in the workplace.

A new app that claims to be able to say how gay a person is from their genes has caused massive arguments and concern recently.

There has been a lot of debate over a recent comment by British politician Dawn Butler that 90% of giraffes are gay and that people shouldn’t treat sexuality as such a big deal.

NBC News has put together a list of 16 must-read books for October’s 25th anniversary of LGBTQ History month.

Heartsong (Green Creek 3) by T J Klune – There is a new romance in the Green Creek werewolf pack, between Robbie and Kelly, but will it lead to tragedy when Kelly is accused of being a traitor? (This is the official e-book copy of the book. Apparently there is some dispute about whether the paperbacks should legally be sold, since the publishers are allegedly not paying royalties.)

Rowan and the Wolf by Lisa Oliver – Omega Rowan has always had bad luck but will it change for better or worse when alpha Shadow shows an interest in him?

Worship (On My Knees Duet 1) by Ella James – After a night of wild passion, will Luke and Vance be able to find something more lasting together?

The King’s Dragon (Fire and Valor 1) by W. M. Fawkes and Sam Burns – Lord Tristram must keep his identity as a dragon shifter from everyone around him, including the dangerous Bet Kyston, who works for the king.

Rocket Science by K.M. Neuhold – Elijah wants to get his PhD, not develop even more of a crush than ever on his best friend’s older brother, Pax.  He doesn’t believe Pax could ever be interested in him but this theory might just turn out to be completely wrong.

Mastering the Flames (The Beacon Hill Sorcerer 4) by SJ Himes – Can sorcerer Isaac and vampire Constantine put their bad history behind them and have a future together?

LGBTQ Entertainment News

Nick Robinson, the star of “Love, Simon“, will appear as Jem Finch in the Broadway production of “To Kill a Mockingbird” from this November.  This will be the second time he has taken on this character, having first appeared on stage as Jem.

Netflix threatened to sue Boston’s Straight Pride after the group suggested Netflix would be sponsoring an anti-LGBTQ event.  An e-mail from Netflix told them, “Our legal department is here, it’s queer and it’s telling you to steer clear”.

Duncan James, formerly in the boy-band “Blue“, said on Twitter that he “couldn’t get over the amazing response, comments and love from people” after he posted an Instagram photo of himself and his boyfriend.

Marvel’s first LGBTQ movie character will be Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, who appeared in “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Avengers: Endgame” and is due to get an LGBTQ romance in “Thor: Love and Thunder“, due to be released in 2021.  Marvel has stated that there will be more LGBTQ characters in their films in the future.

Arthur Rex: Ex Lapis by J. A. Cummings is the second novel in this series about King Arthur, with the title character in this world being gay.  As the new High King, Arthur – with Merlin beside him – struggles to unite the tribes within Britannia and fight the country’s enemies.

Patron of Mercy (Lords of the Underworld 3) by Sam Burns and W. M. Fawkes – After breaking the heart of Thanatos, god of merciful death, Lach is back to pull him into a new adventure and try to get a second chance at winning his heart.

Treasure Trail by Morgan Brice – Ex-law enforcement officer, Erik, and ex-cop, Ben, meet in Cape May and reluctantly join forces to use their psychic gifts against various paranormal enemies.  This is the first book in a new series.

King Me (Forever Wilde Series) by Lucy Lennox – An art thief and an FBI agent have to team up and put aside their differences to recover a priceless artifact.

Refrain (Rockstar Series) by Anne Mercier – After past abuse, Ethan finds a man he can trust in this new novel in the series.  (This series has an ongoing plot, so this shouldn’t be read as a standalone book.)

There are also new audio books this month from Rhys Ford – Jacked Cat Jive (Kai Gracen 3) – and Isobel Starling – Apple Boy: The Quiet Work 1.

A new music video by Queen, Time Waits for No One, has previewed on YouTube this week.  This is an early version of the song that eventually became the 1986 hit, Time.

Taylor Swift has released a new music video, You Need to Calm Down, which has an LGBTQ theme and LGBTQ guest celebrities in it.

New E-Book Releases

Silver in the Wood by Emily Tesh – Mythology and gay romance combine in this unusual fantasy.  Tobias lives an unchanging life in the forest until a handsome new arrival takes over Greenhollow Hall.

Once Upon a Time (Calluvia’s Royalty Book 3) by Alessandra Hazard – Science-fiction romance that is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.  Prince Jamil is known as the Ice Prince, a proper man who always does his duty, but when he meets criminal Rohan at the Royal Stables, his life is set to be turned upside down.

Andre Aciman has announced that he has begun work on a sequel to his best-selling gay novel, “Call Me By Your Name“, which was made into a film in 2017.  It will be called “Find Me” and is due to be released in October.

Cassandra Clare’s new book, “The Red Scrolls of Magic“, first in the new series, ‘The Eldest Curses‘, will be released in hardback on 9 April.  It follows the adventures of popular gay couple, warlock Magnus Bane and shadowhunter Alec Lightwood, whose romance began in the ‘The Mortal Instruments‘ series.

No Quick Fix: Torus Intercession 1 by Mary Calmes – Emery hires a retired SEAL, Brann, as a nanny for his children while planning his wedding, but finds himself increasingly interested in Brann.
