Batman’s sidekick, Robin, has been revealed as bisexual in the comic series, “Batman: Urban Legends”. Actor, Tanner Buchanan, who played gay characters in “The Fosters” and “Major Crimes”, has said in a Variety interview that Robin is his favourite superhero and he would love to play the new version of him on the big screen in the future.
Marvel has released an exciting new trailer for its “Eternals” movie which includes Brian Tyree Henry as Marvel’s first openly gay superhero, inventor Phastos. The film will be released in the US and UK on 5 November and stars Salma Hayek, Richard Madden and Angelina Jolie. Phastos’s husband is played by actor Haaz Sleiman.
The new Chinese gay fantasy series, Word of Honor, is currently being released on YouTube with English subtitles and has become a massive global success. Based on a gay novel by Priest (who also wrote the popular Guardian fantasy novel), it stars Gong Jun (a.k.a. Simon Gong) and Zhang Zehan. Gong Jun also starred in a contemporary gay/bromance drama, Advance Bravely. The Marvel superhero series, “WandaVision” is streaming on Disney+ at the moment and includes the birth of gay character, William, who, in the Marvel comics, grows up to be Wiccan, who marries Hulkling. In a recent interview with People magazine, Paul Bettany – who plays Vision – said how tough it had been for his father to be a gay Catholic and that he hoped his own children would “live authentically” and never be judgemental.
Gay actor John Barrowman’s famous omnisexual character, Jack Harkness, will be back on 1 January in the BBC special, “Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks“.
Alan Ball, who created the urban fantasy “True Blood” series, is set to begin work on a reboot version which will be even more gay than the original, with a brand new cast.

Gay “Teen Wolf” actor, Charlie Carver, has been interviewed lately by Digital Spy about his roles in the new version of the classic gay film, “The Boys in the Band” and in the new adaptation, due next year, of DC Comics’ “The Batman“, starring Robert Pattinson. “The Boys in the Band“, which begins streaming on Netflix on 30 September, also features “Star Trek“s Zachary Quinto and “American Horror Story” actor, Matt Bomer.
