General News

Of the Wild CoverLoki, played by Tom Hiddleston, has been confirmed as bisexual in a recent episode of Marvel’s “Loki“, which is available on the Disney+ channel.  In the series, the God of Mischief is reluctantly working for the Time Variance Authority to to fix problems in the timeline.  This gives him the chance to travel to different time periods and lets the show explore different aspects of his character.   Tom Hiddleston said in an MTV News interview this month that he was pleased to have the chance to explore Loki’s gender-fluidity and sexuality: “Loki is a trickster. Boundaries and identity have always been fluid and I’ve really enjoyed that. I remember even when I was first cast, reading about that stuff and I’m really pleased that we have a place to explore it.”

Allure of Oartheca coverStar Trek‘s George Takei posted a Tweet on 20 June – Fathers Day in the U.S. – that he was sad to have never been able to be a father.  It was something that wasn’t possible for him as a gay man growing up in an earlier era.  Fans immediately tweeted back that he was a favourite uncle figure of theirs.  Gay fans also mentioned how important he had been in their early lives.

Teen Wolf‘ and ‘Arrow‘ actor, Colton Haynes, recently posted a gay modelling photoshoot picture on Instagram.   It had been taken years ago for XY Magazine but, as an actor, he had wanted to hide it.  He said he had been taught to see being gay as a “liability” in the acting industry.  “Being gay is worth celebrating. I wish I’d figured that out sooner, but I’m so glad I know it now.  To everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community, I hope you celebrate yourselves this month and always, exactly as you are.”
